IKIA Airport City Masterplan

Due to the geopolitical location of Iran in the region, Tehran has a significant potential to become the cargo and passenger hub between Europe and East Asia, rather than places like Dubai. This potential was evaluated by American and French experts in 1968, and a plot of land with a total area of 14,000 hectares was set aside for the development of an airport city. The concept was revived in 2007, with Rah Shahr International Group serving as the primary consultant in cooperation with Nikken Sekkei of Japan. A 1600-hectare zone with an integrated transportation approach and the advantage of a free and exclusive economic zone is suggested in the first phase of the Imam Khomeini Airport Masterplan project.
